What is social insurance & housing fund?
"Social insurance & housing fund" is the collective term for employer-provided benefits, including:
- Social insurance: pension, medical, unemployment, work-injury, and maternity insurance
- Housing fund: the housing provident fund
Pension, medical and unemployment insurance are shared between employee and employer; work-injury and maternity are employer-only.
What happens if contributions lapse?

What can the housing fund be used for?
